Dolomitization Mechanism in the Chorgali Formation (Eocene), Pakistan: Evidences from Field observations, Petrography, Mineralogical and SEM analysis

The subject of dolomite formation has always put researchers in the challenge. In this study, origin dolomites Chorgali Formation near Pass was explored through field observation, petrographic characteristics, mineralogical and geochemical analysis. Analytical analyses used present studies include XRD, SEM-EDS, stable isotopes studies. were categorized into three major genetic types based on their textural structural features showing distinct origins. These are named fine crystalline (Df), medium (Dm), coarse (Dc). analytical approaches linked with observations examinations identified that; first type (i.e., Df) is related to early stage diagenesis contain presence mineral (40%), gypsum (27%), quartz (17%) albite (16%) low stochiometric ordered character as recognized by XRD results. SEM-EDS analysis Mg, Ca, O, Na, Si, Fe concentrations. Further, (δ18O) values for Df -5.95 -396‰V-PDB) less depleted. Moreover, Dm Dc revealed 100% dolomites. High concentrations Ca O observed respectively. Stable result exhibiting highly depleted (-7.947‰V-PDB) (-9.227 -8.302‰V-PDB) its elevated temperature at depth. addition, δ13C Df, Dm, lie range original marine signature Eocene times.
